Iboga for treating candida infections

Iboga has been shown to kill Candida and kill chronic viral and bacterial infections. Sometimes Candida can be the main cause of depression, chronic fatigue, or an overall sluggish body and mind that is not performing its highest. Many times Candida or other parasites can be a secondary factor in many conditions. Most people who come to the Iboga Wellness Center feel a significant and greater sense of energy as well as a lightness to their body upon leaving our retreat center. Flushing your body with Iboga is an ideal way for a rapid and deep detox available from a natural source.

Candida infections, also known as Candidiasis, yeast infections or thrush are extremely common fungal infections. Candida can live on our mucosal membranes including the lining of our digestive tracts, mouth, vaginal walls, nasal passages and within our sinuses. There is also another form which is called Acute Disseminated Candidiasis, or Invasive Candidiasis which progresses to our organs. It is most common in individuals that are immuno-compromised. Some Candida in an individual’s body is normal, but when there is Candida overgrowth it can cause many problems.

Symptoms of Candida overgrowth include the following:

The Way you feel:

Inability to focus, Poor memory, Brain fog, Irritability, Anger, Dizziness, Depression, Crying spells, Panic attacks, Low libido, Persistent extreme fatigue, Hyperactivity, Cravings for sweets and alcohol, Insomnia and Poor coordination.

Your Digestive System:

Acid reflux, Bloating, Flatulence, Nausea, Diarrhea, Constipation, Stomach cramps, Indigestion, Burping after meals, Mucus in stool, Hemorrhoids and Itching anus.

Your Weight:

Inability to lose weight, Water retention and sometimes Weight loss.

Other Symptoms:

Traditional western medicine is starting to catch up to this idea and more studies are being published. Did you know that the Mayo Clinic published a study in September 1999 linking almost all sinus infections to fungus such as Candida?

The use of antibiotics also causes an imbalance in our bodies. When the good bacteria that is used to keep the Candida in check is killed, Candida overgrowth persists. Some Candida isn’t necessarily a bad thing because it devours the extra glucose in our bodies that our insulin may not be able to handle on its own. This is also why diet is so important though. Our food supply today is full of high fructose corn syrup and high carbohydrate, processed foods. Many of these sugary options are low in cost making it an easy option when choosing what to eat. But making an investment in your health is key.

Many people are aware of the use of Ibogaine, an alkaloid of Iboga, for the use of addiction interruption… but there are other healing properties of Iboga such as antifungal activity. At the Iboga Wellness Center we use Iboga to detox people from Chronic Candida Infections frequently and have had much success in doing so. There are two studies in particular that stand out regarding Ibogaine for the treatment of Candida Infections. The first being an in vitro study that has shown Ibogaine to suppress symptoms of cutaneous Candida albicans. The same study demonstrated the ability of ibogaine to accelerate the elimination of these yeast cells.

In the second study, Ibogaine was administered to mice that had disseminated (candida that has spread to other parts of the body in a different fungal form) and gastrointestinal Candida infections. Not only did the ibogaine interfere with the early stages of the infection, but it significantly decreased mortality of the mice as well as decreasing the volume of Candida albicans from the kidney, liver and spleen.

More human studies are needed on iboga and Candida in order for the word to spread to the Western World. However, the Bwiti in Gabon, Africa have known about the healing properties of iboga for hundreds of years. Iboga can help you detox from Candida and jump start your healing. After a cleansing iboga treatment, it is important to make lifestyle choices to continue your renewed health.

Iboga and Ayahuasca

Ayahuasca and Iboga may have a few similarities, but these two plant medicines are very different. We actually do not like to compare the two because the sacred herbs of the earth were provided for us to use and every plant spirit has a different energy. However, so many people ask the question, “What is the difference between Ayahuasca and Iboga?” The best answer to that question is…try them both and see for yourself. Afterall, it is best to verify things for yourself instead taking other peoples’ experiences for it. At the same time, we understand why people are curious to get this question answered, so below we listed a few similarities and a few differences that most people agree upon.

Ayahuasca and Iboga are from two different continents and have two different shamanistic traditions behind them. They are both plant medicines for healing and wisdom in one way or antoher. Most people that have experienced the two say that Iboga is more of an inward experience with mostly masculine and some feminine energy and ayahuasca is more of an outward experience with feminine energy. Many say that Iboga is a more direct and a clear path to the truth and your own soul, and ayahuasca may be a bit more abstract and may involve some interpretation. Ayahuasca has benefits including removing layers, detoxifying, and beautiful insights. Iboga has benefits including connecting with your soul and detoxifying from chemicals and bacteria, fungi and viruses.

Some of the more technical differences is that Iboga lasts longer than ayahuasca. You feel the effects of Iboga for 24-36 hours where you experience deep introspection and you do not sleep. For this reason, Iboga is usually given twice in an 8 day retreat. Ayahuasca can be taken multiple times during a retreat since people typically feel the effects for 6-12 hours. When comparing how retreats are conducted at The Iboga Wellness Center to the average ayahuasca retreat, we only treat 4-6 guests at a time and our shamanic iboga providers are involved in the counseling process. Some ayahuasca retreats can treat up to 20 people or more at a time and the shaman may have more of a ceremonial roll instead of an interpersonal roll (although there may be some exceptions). Also, because the best Iboga comes from Gabon, Africa where it is native to, iboga is not as abundant here in the West compared to ayahuasca.

As said before, plant medicines are here for our benefit and can help many people that are searching for an alternative way to help themselves.

The Spiritual Shower at Iboga Wellness Center

Spiritual Shower Ceremony at Iboga Wellness Center

Spiritual Shower Ceremony at Iboga Wellness Center

A Spiritual Shower is included in all of our retreat programs at the Iboga Wellness Center. It is a powerful, cleansing ceremony done at a beautiful, tranquil river here in Costa Rica. The Bwiti Tradition uses spiritual showers in all of their initiation and healing ceremonies to cleanse your body and spirit of negative energies. It is part of the re-birth process. When you do a spiritual shower, you have to know why you want to cleanse yourself first. We have our guests set their intentions and identify what they want to get rid of in their lives. When participating in a spiritual shower, Bwiti music is sang and the nature spirits are called in using a centuries old Bwiti tradition. Our Shamanic Iboga Providers use herbs and woodbarks from Africa. Some of the sacred African herbs and woodbarks used in the Spiritual Shower are Moutombi, Obaka, Moukoumi, Yellow Mouamba, Ikalou, Moukossa, Panzandza, Moungouli, Pembi, Maboudza, Issoni, and Yingou. After the cleansing process, you change into new clothes and leave the old clothes behind (in a private setting). Our guests frequently describe the spiritual shower as a powerful and transformative experience and a very heartfelt part of the program.
